About Fireside Printing

Fireside Printing, originally known as Rush Printing, was founded in Warren, Michigan in the early 1950s. Image of Steve RushIn 1999, the company relocated to Marietta, Georgia, where under Steve Rush's leadership, it embraced modern innovations that allowed for increased flexibility and reduced costs compared to its early operations.

Today, Fireside Printing operates an extensive range of presses, offering a flexibility that surpasses the founder's original vision. This equipment diversity enables the company to turn any concept into reality while accommodating various budgets.

Steve's foray into printing began at age ten under the guidance of his grandfather, Walter Pospiech. A family visit revealed his grandfather completing a print job on a 1905 Chandler & Price hand-fed press. Captivated by the machine, Steve learned the crafts of hand typesetting and press operation from his grandfather, marking the start of his lifelong passion for printing.

Steve furthered his expertise at The Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a degree in Printing Management in 1986, followed by an MBA from Georgia State University in 1995.

Steve shares, "The moment I first inked a press and pulled the impression handle, I knew printing was my calling. The process of turning a blank sheet into a work of art resonates with my creative nature, and tinkering with the machines satisfies my mechanical inclinations."

As an avid recycler and environmental advocate, Steve takes pride in the eco-friendly nature of letterpress printing. The company's primary paper stocks are composed of either 100% recycled cotton or include 10% post consumer waste.  Even then, not much is wasted on press.  A typical single color card may only require 10 pieces to set up.  Compare this to offset lithography, where 100 is the norm. Letterpress is very tree friendly. I love everything about letterpress. Give me a call, I love to talk about it!"
